This café included a complete strip out of the existing space at the Dowse Art Museum in Lower Hutt. Our client wanted a clean, sophisticated space with a full commercial kitchen and operations area. We removed a section of the masonry structural wall to create an opening from the café to kitchen, grab a glimpse of the hustle and bustle of a kitchen in full operation.
The café space offers a selection of seating from high tables, café tables and everyone’s favourite... the banquet seating. The seating options cover everyone’s needs from the stop in coffee lovers to intimate dining options, with the lighting and décor creating these invisible thresholds.
A re-connection to the Art Museum was created during this revamp with artwork carrying you between the spaces. Pop into the Museum next time you are in the area and stop in for a meal at Bellbird Eatery. Their food is excellent, and the space is beautiful.
